how i work and how to get in touch

Please read this before contacting me.
I am trying to answer most questions in this little collumn.

I am highly specialiyed to work on large scale work with people who have to travel long distances.
In general, the quality of work you find on this site and my social media can’t be achieved in one single visit.
If you are looking for a piece that can be achieved in one session, please dont ask me for a full color piece but also consider a Black and Gray tattoo as those can be completed in almost half the time.

Normally, planning large work with travelling clientele requires a consultation in order to make proper judgments on the extend of the work and of course to arrive at an appropriate quote. Since most of my clientele has to travel to reach me, I find it easier to plan these consultations with you via video call like Zoom.

In the first 15 years of my career i designed all my pieces digitally and for free. This has been a fantastic source of study for me. However, as by far most of my clients request my own personal style of biomech now.
I have put an incredible amount of time and effort in becoming confident and fluent in this direction and no longer feel it is fair to extend this service free of charge.
All my pieces are either designed directly on the body as a “freehand“ drawing or will be designed digitally partly or completely. I charge half my hourly tattoo rate for this process.
I had to come up with an approach that not only allows me to get better, more personal, results but also involves you in the design-process.
Due to my years of experience with this subject matter and the way i regiment my time, I will not work on your design before our first appointment.

This actually works out in everyone’s favor!
It cuts down on the amount of travel throughout the project, limits risk and stress for you and me and ensures that everybody is happy with the results. It also provides a lot of buffer for eventualities that come along when we travel long distances. It makes the whole process much more personal and memorable.
Hopefully you will conclude that the outcome will be worth traveling for. So far my track record has been really great.

Here is how it works:

I split large work up into two stages:
The first stage is called  “Foundation” in which we design the piece and commit a strong foundation to skin.
Then we will have as many “Color & Detail” sessions as we need to complete the piece.

A typical Foundation session:

On day one we meet to get acquainted and talk about ideas. I pick you up from a train station or airport or your hotel and we can chat a bit in the car before we get into the serious business of tattooing a lot… Once acquainted, we will collect reference material and create a map to collect and sort everything we need for inspiration unless you already have done this as homework.
This will help me understand your taste and inspires me to start one or more exploratory sketches.
Once we made the most important decisions in conversation and/or drawings, we begin the design process.
This will happen either digitally on the computer or directly on skin. Depending on how comfortable i am with the subject matter or how fleshed out our ideas are at that point.

The design can take multiple days during which you can hang out with me or use the free time on this first trip to explore and have a mini vacation.

If i need to draw on you directly, i will charge a hourly fee of 50% my usual rate (see below).

Normally this takes 1-3 days (Mon-Wed) after which we tattoo for 2-3 days (Thu-Sat).
This concludes the Foundation stage and after a healthy healing period of min 2-4 weeks we can proceed with Color & Detail.

Once your Foundation layer is healed we can start coloring!
With big pieces on people who are coming a long distance, the best way to work is to tattoo 2-4 days successively, to cover as much skin as we can.
Sounds brutal but this is a place of tranquility and I literally never had problems reaching our goals. We work in mindful sections so we dont disturb skin that has been worked on prior days. There is no pressure to outperform ourselves and i will do my best to help you reach our goal without pushing you over the limit.  There is never any pressure to do more than either you or I can or want to do at any point.

Please Consider the following:

  • I like to keep the momentum alive when possible.
Being able to plan the first 2 or 3 sessions immediately and having the necessary funds available and ready is a big plus and really helps to push your request to the top of the list.

  • I will not start a piece if i feel i wont have a proper chance to finish it to my satisfaction.

  • I will demand a deposit which is not refundable and goes towards the LAST session.

  • I don't take shortcuts that would harm the longevity and quality of my work.

  • I am trying to be as honest and upfront about the way I work as possible in order to keep a relaxed and trustworthy atmosphere. I expect you to uphold the same standards.

  • I work with an hourly rate of 250,-/h.

  • Due to the amount of time i have spent tattooing, i am physically limited to work for 4-6h per day.

  • I only charge by the hour to keep it fair. I will estimate how long our piece will take and if it takes much longer than my estimation I will always strive to find a fair solution that keeps both of us happy and safe.

  • I am very private and like to keep a low public profile to ensure a relaxed and peaceful atmosphere for you and my family. Please respect that my contact info stays between us once i share it.

  • Due to my relocation plans to Canada (2023)it can be hard or impossible for me to accommodate you until i have a Canadian work permit or travel to Germany. If you have not heard back from me in weeks, please try again. I wont be mad ;)

  • I am only available through Instagram at the moment. Please proceed to the “Contact” page for more information.
